Hysteroscopy - Laparoscopy

Hysteroscopy - Laparoscopy

These procedures are the 2 pillars of gynaecological minor invasive surgery.

Hysteroscopy – hystera (Greek) = womb = uterus (latin)

By inserting a thin long instrument not bigger than 5mm (hysteroscope) and by using Normal Saline Solution as dilatation media we can explore the endometrial cavity.

We can detect various findings like:

Polyps, fibroids, septums or adhesions or even detect chronic endometritis.

By removing them in the first place we can easily restore fertility.

Laparoscopy

We use a long cylindric instrument (laparoscope) which is inserted in the abdominal cavity after having the so called peritoneal cavity inflated with CO2 gas in order to improve visualization within the cavity. With this type of procedure we can remove fibroids, ovarian cysts, hydrosalpingx (dilated tubes), treat endometriosis, ectopic pregnancy and clear the abdominal cavity from adhesions.

It’s obvious that with laparoscopy can easily detect the causes of infertility and to restore it to a significant degree.

One of the most fundamental advantages of the endoscopic procedures is the short recovery period. Patients are being discharged if not the same day, the day after the operation, and are able to return back to their everyday life in a very short period of time (7-10 days).
